How Long Can You Screen Record on Mac?

I want to record a lecture on my Mac, and it will last a long time (maybe 3+ hours). Does anyone know if there's maximum time on Mac screen recording?

Hi there!

Actually, there is no maximum time for Mac screen recording. That's to say, you can record your Mac screen as long as you like in an ideal world.

But, it would be best if you made sure that there is enough space on your Mac to store your recordings, as the only factor that will affect your Mac recording length is your Mac's storage. Long screen recordings will create extremely large files really quickly, If you record your Mac screen in Full HD quality for a few minutes, it will quickly add up to 1 GB.

Most built-in Mac screen recorder software, like QuickTime and Screenshot Toolbar, will create large video recording files, which means you cannot record your screen for 3 hours or even less. Thus, you need to avoid large recording file sizes if you want to record Mac screens for a long time.

As for creating smaller Mac recording file sizes with high quality, EaseUS RecExperts is an excellent choice.

This Mac screen recording software offers various advanced recording features, including but not limited to full-screen recording, partial screen recording, schedule recording, audio recording, webcam recording, and more. Better than the built-in programs, this tool lets you record a Mac screen with both system sound and your microphone voice without installing other plugins.

Most importantly, it offers a compressing tool that will reduce your file size with one simple click when you finish your recording tasks. If needed, you can even preview and edit your Mac recordings flexibly according to your needs! To conclude, this Mac screen recorder is worth trying!
