Obs Is a Black Screen When Recording YouTube Movies

Rel updated on May 21, 2024 to Screen Recorder Questions and Answers

I was using OBS to record a movie from YouTube, but the recorded video showed nothing but a black screen. Did I do something wrong? How can I fix the problem? Please help me.

The reason why your recorded video showed nothing but a black screen is that the video is protected by YouTube with some encrypted codes to prevent others from recording. In this situation, OBS Studio, as an open-source video recorder, has nothing to do with it. So, the best solution for you is to try another video recorder software.

I want to recommend EaseUS RecExperts to you. This is a professional video recorder for both Windows and Mac, so you don't need to worry about its compatibility.

🔎Steps on how to avoid a black screen when recording YouTube videos are listed below:

Step 1. Launch EaseUS RecExperts on your computer. Find the "Enhanced mode" from the left sidebar.

Step 2. After going to the enhanced mode, a window will pop out to remind you that there will be a slight change on your screen. Click "OK". The red "Rec" button will turn blue now.

Step 3. Choose to record with "Webcam", "System sound", and "Microphone". After setting, click "Rec" to start recording and finish it with "Stop".

🆒Other highlights of EaseUS RecExperts:

  • Record streaming videos with a webcam, system sound, and microphone together
  • Export recorded videos with up to 4K/HD quality
  • Remove noise with its AI-powered noise remover
  • Schedule recording to save time and effort

I hope this post has solved your problems.
