Hi! According to my experience, iMovie does can help you record screen and audio, but there are some limitations:

  • Only record camera videos on your Mac or iPhone
  • Only allow recording screen with your micorphone

To record webcam video with your sound with iMovie, you can check the following steps:

Step 1. Open iMovie, click File > Import Media... > to upload the required video.

Step 2. Choose the inbuilt camera in the Cameras section of the Import window; then, you will see a live video image.

Step 3. Next, click the Record button below the live video image, and it will start recording the video now.

As you can see, recording the screen with audio via iMovie is a little complicated. Besides, If you want to record your desktop screen and the system sound, iMovie will fail to complete the task. At that time, I think you can switch to a professional screen and audio recorder - EaseUS RecExperts.

This professional Mac screen recorder allows you to record anything on your Mac screen, including desktop and camera videos. Moreover, it supports capturing the system sound, microphone, or both with simple clicks. Most importantly, you don't need to download or install extra plugins!

Here is a simple guide you can refer to:

  • Download, install this screen recorder, and launch it.
  • Select your desired recording area and the audio source.
  • Once done, click REC to start your recording.
