Blackboard Collaborate has many PC users. Some of them use it to hold a meeting, some use it to attend a class. It is normal that people want to record the conference or lesson as a video for later review. Collaborate offers users the recording function.
Users can make a Collaborate Ultra online meeting room available inside groups, and optionally allow the audience to record their session. However, webcams video is only part of the recording if there are no files or screens being shared. And once a file/screen is shared, the webcam will not be recorded.
Therefore, if you want to record a video from Blackboard Collaborate without any limitations, you will need a third-party video conference recorder.

Record on Blackboard Collaborate as a Student
As we know, only those with moderator access can turn on recordings in Blackboard Collaborate sessions. In such cases, you will need EaseUS RecExperts, a Mac and Windows screen recorder, to record the session as a video.
With this tool, you can record the screen and webcam, audio, or microphone. It reduces noise in the recording to get a better quality. Also, it offers virtual background effects like blur, classroom, studio, and more. After recording, you can generate a transcript with the AI Assistant.
Now, click the button below to download this screen recorder to start recording immediately!
Step 1. Go to the meetings that you want to record. Then, launch EaseUS RecExperts on your devices. Choose the "Full Screen" recording mode or select the recording area in the "Region" mode.
Step 2. Choose to record the webcam, system sound, microphone sound or none by clicking on the according buttons.
Step 3. It offers an AI background changer and green screen feature to users. You can change the video conference background as you like. When all is done, click on the red "REC" button to begin and click "F10" and "F9" to pause or stop recording.
Step 4. After recording, you can view the meeting videos in the pop-up recording list. You can even click "Edit" > "AI Assistant" > "Start" to get a text file of what has been said.
Record on Blackboard Collaborate as a Moderator
If you have Moderator access, you can use the inbuilt screen recording function in Blackboard Collaborate to record an online meeting or a lesson. One thing to note is that only the main room will be recorded. Breakout sessions will not be recorded.
If you start breakout sessions and all users leave the main room, the recording for the main room will stop. And to restart the recording, the breakout sessions must be ended.
Steps to record on Blackboard Collaborate:
Step 1. Log in to Blackboard on Chrome and open your session in Blackboard. On the left navigation area, click on "Collaborate Ultra".
